All Weather Horse Paddock

demonstration project

In 2005, the Rockingham County Conservation District was awarded a Moose Plate Grant by the NH State Conservation Committee to construct an all weather horse paddock using the standards from Ohio and adjusting them to NH's conditions and materials.  Gaylee Stables in Hampton Falls agreed to participate in this demonstration project by the use of their site and donation of some expenses.  The design and installation were completed and then the site was monitored for a one year period.  The draft standards and specifications have been submitted to the NH USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service for inclusion in their cost share program under Heavy Use Areas.

A special thank you to Dick and Gaylee Robinson for their help and support for this project.  We would also like to thank Dennis Lydon at Aggregate Industries for his help in locating the cost effective material needed to replace Ohio's limestone.
